  • Location: Naguru, Kampala, Uganda
  • Total Number of Participants: 500 Children & 2 Coaches

Summary:

The Kele Global Football Tournament was a community-based sports event aimed at promoting physical activity, teamwork, and healthy competition among local youth. It provided an opportunity for Children to come together and showcase their football skills in a friendly environment.

Our Sport Club program has directly trained and supported children aged 4 -18 years with football games for 18 months. Kele Global has trained over 500 children and youth in Kampala’s disadvantaged communities.

As a result of our direct support during these COVID-19 lockdowns, these children and their parents were able to stay healthy and mentally well and not engage in unwanted behaviors. Moreover, our program took these children to play 6 friendly matches, in which they had great exposure to other children from other cultures from the expat community living in Kampala.

Objectives:

  1. Encourage participation in sports and physical activity.

Outputs / Successes of the event:

  1. Increased participation in physical activities among locals.
  2. Enhanced sense of unity and cooperation among the participants.
  3. Improved football skills and teamwork demonstrated during matches.
  4. Positive feedback from parents and community members about the event’s impact.
