Summary:
The Kele Global Football Tournament was a community-based sports event aimed at promoting physical activity, teamwork, and healthy competition among local youth. It provided an opportunity for Children to come together and showcase their football skills in a friendly environment.
Our Sport Club program has directly trained and supported children aged 4 -18 years with football games for 18 months. Kele Global has trained over 500 children and youth in Kampala’s disadvantaged communities.
As a result of our direct support during these COVID-19 lockdowns, these children and their parents were able to stay healthy and mentally well and not engage in unwanted behaviors. Moreover, our program took these children to play 6 friendly matches, in which they had great exposure to other children from other cultures from the expat community living in Kampala.
Objectives:
- Encourage participation in sports and physical activity.
Outputs / Successes of the event:
- Increased participation in physical activities among locals.
- Enhanced sense of unity and cooperation among the participants.
- Improved football skills and teamwork demonstrated during matches.
- Positive feedback from parents and community members about the event’s impact.
