Ms. Fatmata Barrie, a Sierra Leonean American with over 20 years of experience as a community advocate and organizer focused on civic engagement and coalition building, has helped me strengthen my leadership skills. Ms. Barrie is passionate and committed to fair representation in the law, the electoral process, and social and economic justice. She has spent much of the last 20 years representing clients as an attorney, drafting policy, and managing political campaigns. She is a former Montgomery County State Delegate Candidate who succeeded in galvanizing underrepresented communities to be more civically engaged.
Fatmata has extensive experience as a special education advocate and attorney having represented hundreds of parents who have children with special needs attending D.C. public and charter schools. She helps parents advocate for and win the provision of appropriate special education services to which their children are entitled. She helps parents win the opportunity and ability to place their children in appropriate programs and schools to meet their children’s special education needs. She also assists clients in filing their social security disability claims.
